2015 Tour of Utah - STAGE 7
It’s a wrap, folks. The 2015 Tour of Utah finished with a bang as Joe Dombrowski fought off his rivals on the steep Empire Pass climb to win his first major UCI stage race. This stage was 78 miles long with 7800 feet of climbing, definitely a tough one after racing hard all week long.
Stage 7 started on Main Street in Park City, then rolled out of town to descend Brown’s Canyon to Peoa. From there, the riders rode gradually uphill past Kamas & Woodland, Utah to face the first major climb up Wolf Creek Ranch. This was followed by a fast, technical descent into the town of Heber City and Midway. Next the riders struggled up the long, steep climb of Empire Pass which featured grades of up to 20%. All of the key riders were in the front bunch driving the pace trying to crack each other apart on the climb. They stuck together at the KOM, then bombed down the fast turn laden descent into Park City to finish with an uphill sprint on Main Street. Norris (Drapac) outsprinted Bookwalter (BMC) for the win with Berhane, Schleck, and other following close behind.
